“Controlled by your canine? We were! A sympathetic fellow dog walker recommended Ashley, a local dog trainer, who had helped to cure her canine’s capers. Our angelic little mongrel is a rescue dog named Mikey who arrived with many unwelcome habits. He was uncontrolled when walking on a lead, refused to return when summoned, he would try to rip through the door to separate the postman from his letters and would smother all visitors with an enthusiastic overdose of unrequited affection. Apart from that, he was the perfect Jack Russell.
Ashley helped us address all of these issues. We were amazed at how quickly her methods had a beneficial effect. She is a clear communicator, and her advice has helped us be more confident when training our delinquent doggie. It is understood that ongoing training by us needs to continue but Ashley has set us in the right direction and positive results are being achieved. There is so much to take in during a lesson, which results in much being forgotten, but the after-care service includes a written summary of the lesson being sent by email. That is an excellent provision.
Whilst Ashley is reliable and punctual, she does not seem to be governed by the clock when it comes to ending the lesson and is very generous with her time. She has invited us to contact her by phone anytime we need advice, and she has a sincere interest in helping her clients and their furry friends.
We not only would recommend her services, but we already have and that resulted in another satisfied customer. Should you wish to verify this testimonial please feel free to contact us on 07794 206214.”

I booked training with Ashley as my boy was good except when it came to a field and then he would pull, he could also get very impatient when I stood and chatted and he wanted to do other things... I thought i was doing something wrong to create this behaviour, but did not know what.
Although I had puppy classes and 121 training with other trainers she came recommended I do not cope well in groups and find I forget things easily , and an hour is just not long enough. But from the phone call to booking in and after explaining what was happening she told me what she thought and that she could help. Ashley asked what i wanted from my dog and spent a lot of time explaining the different training methods and why she would use them. I felt confident that i could do this. After doing an assessment walk and showing her what the problems was like. We went home and discussed our options in the end we went for a prong collar that i thought i would never ever use, and the results were amazing i can actually walk on to a field or past a field with out any pulling at all. I was also amazed at the amount of time Ashley spent with us over 4 hours. She explained things very clearly and simply for me. Kobe is walking fantastic now i know what I was doing wrong, everything else is falling into place. I walk with a friend and her dog both of our dogs are the same age and grown up together. We are seeing a difference in our walks too. And to be honest I hardly have to correct him at all and we only had our session 2 days ago.Having explained all this to friends they too will be having a session with her...
I could not be more happy with my training and have booked a follow up session NOT because I may forget what she said, as she sent me a detailed report of what we are doing and how, which is amazing....
Thank you Ashely.... 🥰

“When you first meet Ashley, you’re impressed from second one. She’s the goddess of dogs. No joke! She’s so calm & steady and can help you out of any situation. She reads you & the work you do with you dog. If you are trying to find a perfect UK-based trainer, then search no further, you’ve found her.”

“When meeting Ashley, it’s quite clear that dogs are her number one priority in life. She connects with them on a different level than we ever could. It was remarkable to see her working with Ralph, our crazy brown Labrador. Together with Ivy, she was able to educate us on how to handle home well in a fun, individual and relaxing way. Another big plus is that she was very flexible about where and when we trained. Both Ralph and us found a friend in Ashley and Ivy.”

We heard about Ashley when we started looking for a balanced trainer in the North East. We hired her not long after adopting our Romanian rescue pup Flint. Initially we used well publicised online trainers to try and train flint but we were still struggling to stop flint from saying hello to everyone; stopping him from scavenging anything he could attempt to eat (including faeces) and being calm in the house. Whilst the online material was a good base, he needed a more personalised approach to his training to get through to him. Ashley's training style is understated and calm; she immediately puts you at ease and totally appreciates the fact that training a dog has its frustrations. Her approach as a dog trainer and as a dog owner allowed us to build a training plan that was suited to how we wanted to interact with Flint. She takes you through each step of the training using a mix of demonstrations and coaching to make sure you understand the requirements as much as the dog does. After every session you definitely feel so much more capable and confident in yourself and your dog. Within just 5 sessions we now have the confidence to take Flint into lots of different situations, knowing we can set him up to succeed in whatever we ask him to do. Whilst we still have plenty of work to do with Flint, he has improved remarkably well from Ashley's coaching and we intend to continue working with Ashley in future to ensure neither us nor Flint fall back into any bad habits. Thanks for all the help so far!

I spent a full year unsuccessfuly training loose lead walking with my border collie, Cassi, using positive methods such as stoping when she pulled, changing direction and loads of treats / play.
We had a slip lead over her nose which sort of worked to begin with but after a while she got used to it and pulled on that too resulting in her tearducts blocking up and loads of snotty crap coming from her eyes constantly.
HUGE improvments were made from just the first session with Ashley and now a few months in, she walks like a dream. Her eye snots also completely cleared up a couple of weeks after switching from the slip lead on her face to a prong collar.
No joke this is the best money ive spent on my dog in terms of improving our enjoyment when we are out walking, in public spaces, around company etc.
Thank you Ashley.

“I asked Ashley for some help and guidance around settle training as although we have a lovely settled dog in the house, outside was another story. The garden was seen as play time and he’d never stop pacing, expecting to play etc. We were advised to try tether training with guidance on how to act around him, during the process I was honestly amazed at the difference even on a few short attempts. I only have to bring the tether out for a short period of time now and it resets him. He’ll now find a spot to relax if the attention isn’t on play time!
I’m also now able to take him to outdoor cafes and he will relax on his mat and I genuinely thin this is all related to the same settle practise. Ashley was really open and happy to help me, explained things really clearly to me and also has a dog with similar energy levels so totally understood what and why I needed what I was asking for and explained what I should try to do in clear steps for me to follow. She was also super quick to respond with feedback when we’d done our first session.”

I used Ashley to train my cockapoo who had many issues but mainly resource guarding. She took us on and guided us through not only getting his behaviour in check but helping me, my young child and husband to understand how my cockapoo thinks and why he acts in ways we don’t understand. Ashley was very friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble, she has helped our dog become apart of the family and us to manage his resource guarding in a way where no one (including the dog) gets hurts. I never felt she was clock watching our sessions, we kept going until we had achieved the goal of our session. Overall, the difference she made on our family life was unmistakable, even relatives immediately noticed the difference in my cockapoo. I highly recommend Ashley if you want a tailored, efficient trainer for your dog and have already recommended her to many of my friends and family and will continue to recommend her to many more! *****

'Ashley was recommended to us by a trainer from the rescue where we adopted Lara. We had tried a previous trainer, but we were not seeing results. This all changed after just one session with Ashley. It was immediately clear that Ashley understood dog behaviour and related to dogs in ways that opened communication and put them at ease. Due to bad car sickness, Lara had a fearful aversion to the car, but because of medical issues we needed to transport her to the vets regularly, and so it was always traumatic trying to get her in the car. Ashley introduced us to the slip lead and showed us how to use it in order to teach Lara what was expected and in turn learn to trust us. After a little bit of resistance to this new tool, Lara got the hang of it very quickly and by the end of the first session she was jumping in and out of the car with ease. From then she has come on incredibly well and overcome her fear of thresholds and doorways by implementing the tools and tips given to us by Ashley. She now loves to go into new places. We have also extended these training tools to other things that she found scary, such as trains, and we are able to travel more freely with her knowing that we have the knowledge and confidence to help her through new situations that she may find scary. That initial session and change in the way we communicated with Lara has made all the difference to her continued progression and has meant that we now have a wonderful dog who is able to enjoy life and trust us to keep her safe. Although we only had a couple of sessions, Ashley has remained in contact throughout the past year and is on hand for any questions we may have. If you are experiencing issues or just want to learn how to better communicate with your dog, I would highly recommend Ashley's services

Initially we contacted Ashley after seeing a recommendation on Facebook saying she was amazing and she is definitely living up to the expectations.
We purchased two Labrador puppies, and even prior to bringing the dogs home she came out to meet us and from that first meeting we’d knew we had made the right decision. She has a wealth of knowledge on every aspect of the dog training and dog psychology. Out aim was for Ashley to help train our puppies- for example, toileting, walking, behaviour act. Although we’re still in the training process, all advice and methods shown have proven to be effective and useful when we’re training the dogs on our own. she’s not just helped to train our dogs its also teaching us as-well.
Ashley’s training we feel is more personalised to each dog because she spends quality time training each dog individually, I truly believe there isn’t a dog that she couldn’t train. she is amazing and we’re so glad that we found her and to have her help us train our dogs Thor & Logan.

I contacted Ashley for help with our 1 year old dachshund who was very anxious especially around people. She would bark at everyone and pull on the lead when out on walks and it was getting to the point we didn't want to go for walks as it was not an enjoyable experience.
It was obvious very quickly that Ashley knew her stuff and helped us to understand why behaviours were happening and how to overcome them. Everything was explained to me and Ashley was really supportive and patient during our sessions. I now feel more confident when out walking and know how to manage any situations that may cause anxiety.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ashley to anyone needing help with training their dog.

I contacted Ashley as I was exasperated by my super clever collie pup. I didn’t have a set objective for training other than to improve her recall which had gone awry. We started working with Ashley one cold April morning and never looked back, in fact she probably wants rid of us. We went back to basics and week by week we followed her instructions, some times feeling we were getting nowhere, other times amazed that this was the same dog. The crazy super clever collie is still there, just with a few more manners and a mutual respect between us. We now have fun on all walks! Ashley is amazing to deal with, she spent time explaining anything we asked, mixed things up so the clever collie didn’t outwit but most of all we had fun! We laughed at every session, granted probably at me, but she gave me exactly what I wanted even though I didn’t actually know what that was myself. I can’t recommend her highly enough this is not dog training this is training your dog to fit into your life.

My pup a border collie cross bearded collie was 9 months old when I phoned Ashley for some help. I felt I had a puppy that was becoming naughty and aggressive. The training sessions with Ashley were life changing for me. A lot of the help was for me to understand more what was going on. Ashley helped me to see I had a very affectionate dog but a very frightened one. Ashley helped me to gain the confidence of a frightened little dog by getting her to focus on me and working with her to do things that would build up her confidence. It is still a work in progress but she is now much more confident and her fear is getting less and less. She achieves so much now in obedience, heel work, recall and meeting people. With Ashley’s hard work with me and shadow, I feel I now have a happy dog and a well happy owner.

All I ever wanted was a cuddly dog and one to keep me company on runs, unfortunately my 8 months old labradoodle, although I'd tried with lots of reading and puppy training would do all the sitting, lying, waiting etc but when we came anywhere near the beach he would pull like mad- so I struggled walking him, let alone running. I live right near the sea and this took so much enjoyment out of trying to walk him, I did all the stopping and spinning but he still pulled and would not infrequently, when over excited at the beach, dart off to the other end to play with a fun looking dog (hurting my hand or shoulder in the process). I was struggling to cope with trying to train him especially with a busy job, and friends and family wouldn't help with walking him because he could suddenly pull and you could easily end up on the ground.
A few sessions with Ashley and I had the skills and resources to get Gus Gus' recall and lead walking nailed. He now has non-stop compliments from everyone and is so easy to manage. He's a super happy boy with so many people who love looking after him because he's such a dream. Ashley goes above and beyond and really tries to get the best out of the dog and trainer. Don't get me wrong, it was hard work continuing all the training but when I got disheartened, I remembered her telling me to just be consistent and patient and eventually it'll click and stay. It was so worth it, Gus Gus is now, instead of causing stress, adds so much positivity to mine and so many people's lives. Thank you!
